Paid Summer Internships for Pace Students
Pace University’s Career Services launched their Community Impact Funded Internships!
All of these opportunities are funded by Pace through our Community Impact program. Students will be paid $19/hour and can earn up to $6k for the summer. To qualify, you must be a currently enrolled student graduating in Dec 2024 or later. Other eligibility requirements for Community Impact are included at the bottom (also included on the postings). The New York Climate Exchange Summer 2024 Internship Program
(On-site – NYC)
Deadline: Wednesday, Feb 28
***This internship through the New York Climate Exchange also provides housing support for those who need it AND is only open to undergrads (current sophomores and juniors) – see link above for posting details.
The cohort’s work will revolve around three topics:
- Citizen Science: Connecting climate research and the public, encouraging broad-based participation in scientific discovery
- Climate Literacy: Promoting knowledge of climate change, its impacts, and proposed solutions in pursuit of an informed society
- Resilience: Empowering individuals, communities, and ecosystems to recover and adapt to the impacts of climate change

Edible Academy Environmental Education Intern
(On-site, Bronx, NY)
Deadline: Monday, March 11 at 5 pm
Host Organization: New York Botanical Garden
Brief description: Support a variety of garden-based education programming at the NYBG’s Edible Academy, our LEED certified garden dedicated to teaching about the ecosystems that provide the foundation for the foods that nourish our bodies and minds. Programming includes in-person school field trips for pre K through 5th; drop in gardening activities for families; our Children’s Gardening Program; Summer Camps exploring culinary arts and sustainability; and the Bronx Community Farm Hub, propagating seedlings for distribution to community gardens and harvesting produce for donation to neighborhood food providers. Work closely with our program coordinators and educators to support our program facilitation and with our garden coordinators to learn and practice sustainable gardening strategies in the stewardship of our garden campus.
Climate Policy Intern

Host Organization: Waterfront Alliance
Brief description: The climate policy intern will support the Waterfront Alliance’s senior manager for climate policy to advance policy and legislative priorities through policy research, organize collective actions among stakeholders, support coalition working groups, and implement communications efforts related to the campaign (i.e., drafting advocacy materials such as memos of support, research documents, and Action Alerts).
Horticulture & Sustainability Intern
(Hybrid [80-90% on-site], NYC)

Host Organization: Gotham Park
Brief description: Gotham Park, a new public green space located at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan, is seeking a Horticulture and Sustainability Intern to support public programs related to environmental stewardship, the design, planting and maintenance of new urban green spaces, nature-based climate resiliency solutions, community environmental education and volunteer engagement initiatives. The Horticulture and Sustainability Intern will support Gotham Park’s Chief Operating Officer, Program Coordinator and executive team in the coordination, planning, delivery and management (including leading volunteers and high school interns) of Gotham Park’s environmental and horticultural programming initiatives. The Intern will receive a valuable hands-on learning experience in sustainable urban horticultural design and maintenance and public environmental engagement.
Energy & Sustainability Intern

Host Organization: New York Public Library
Brief description: The NYPL Energy Team is committed to implementing energy management best practices across the NYPL’s portfolio of buildings to help the City meet its ambitious emissions reductions and energy goals. NYPL is working to reduce building emissions by 49% by 2025 and 86% by 2030 (compared to 2005 levels), culminating in full decarbonization by 2050. The Energy Team works to track overall energy usage and identify energy-saving opportunities in buildings, implement energy-efficient operations and maintenance practices, and oversee the delivery of energy-efficiency retrofit projects. The Energy Intern will work under the direction of the Sr Manager of Energy & Sustainability.
Education Intern

Host Organization: Waterfront Alliance
Brief description: The Waterfront Alliance is a coalition of more than 1,100 organizations with ties to our regional waterways. Our mission is to build, transform, revitalize, and protect accessible waterfronts for all communities, together. We are seeking a seasonal waterfront educator to provide direct instruction for our Estuary Explorers’ environmental education and public programs. Working under the supervision of the education program manager, the education intern will be responsible for engaging with partners, students, and the public at schools, community organizations, and tabling events, and leading outdoor waterfront field labs (focused on marine science and coastal resilience) with students participating in the Estuary Explorers program.
Natural Resources Conservation Intern
(On-site, Cross River, NY)

Host Organization: Westchester County Parks, Recreation, and Conservation
Brief description: The Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation is responsible for the preservation and maintenance of 18,000 acres of parklands, trails and open spaces that host a variety of habitats and a diverse array of species. As new wildlife and plant populations emerge and established populations change, land managers and researchers monitor impacts and use adaptive management strategies to promote conservation.
The Natural Resources Conservation interns support the Curator of Natural Resources in implementing and adapting conservation management plans, studying wildlife, monitoring target species, promoting forest health, and managing invasive species.
Everett Children’s Adventure Garden Environmental Education Intern
(On-site, NYC)
Deadline: Monday, March 11 at 5 pm
Host Organization: New York Botanical Garden
Brief description: Observe and support an outdoor environmental science education day camp in the summer. Engaging place-based programs offered include in-person school field trips for grades pre K through 5; drop-in family activities and nature play; renowned Explainer Program, a science teaching and citizen science leadership program for local teens; and summer science day camps for grades 1-8. Work with a mentor to research, develop and lead a lesson plan for one of the targeted audiences that best fits the intern’s interests and areas of expertise.
Land Conservation Fellow
(On-site, Rye, NY)
Deadline: Monday, March 11 at 5 pm
Host Organization: Friends of Rye Nature Center
Brief description: Land Conservation fellows will work with the Conservation Director, Land Stewards, and other staff across the 47-acre park. Throughout their duration, fellows will take part in ecological restoration, volunteer programming, and park maintenance. They will learn plant and wildlife ID, how ecological forest systems interact, invasive species removal strategies, and much more.
NYBG Thain Family Forest Intern
(On-site, Bronx, NY)
Deadline: Monday, March 11 at 5 pm
Host Organization: New York Botanical Garden
Brief Description: The Forest Intern will assist in the ecological restoration and research of the 50-acre Thain Family Forest at the heart of The New York Botanical Garden. The Forest Intern will report to the Forest Director and will work with Forest staff and volunteers to carry out forest restoration activities including invasive species management, trail maintenance, nursery maintenance and routine ecological monitoring. The Forest Intern will have the opportunity to visit other public gardens, restoration sites and forests throughout the region, to interact with visiting professionals and to take classes in the Garden’s Continuing Education Program. Interns are also encouraged to pursue independent research in the environmental sciences.
TO BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY TO COMMUNITY IMPACT, YOU WILL NEED TO:
- Complete program requirements for one of the following: ASPIRE, INSPIRE, or BUS 255 course.
- Be a currently enrolled Pace student (undergraduate, graduate, and international students), graduating Dec 2024 or later.
