Update from the Pleasantville Garden: Herbs!

A new addition to the Center this summer is our herb garden. Last week, two of our students Lucas Andujar and Belle Roger-Gordon prepped and planted two separate beds establishing our “community” herb garden. Community because once the plants are mature, the Pace community will be invited to come and clip herbs whenever they want. Need a little basil for sauce, or some cilantro for your salsa, or a little oregano for the fish you are baking? Why buy it from a market when you pay for more than you can use anyway? So far we have: sweet marjoram, Greek oregano, oregano, cilantro, lemon balm, thyme, garlic chives, spicy basil, sweet basil, sage, tarragon, rosemary, lemon grass, and dill.
The plants will need a few weeks to mature, but once they are established, they should be able to replenish themselves until we get frost.
If you are interested, send an email to aspillo@pace.edu and you’ll be alerted when it’s time to start snipping.

New Nesting Boxes in the Conservation Center

These boxes are being monitored for breeding bird activity, and the recorded data is actively being submitted to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology NestWatch program.
